Directions to Little Riverside

Little Riverside is in a residential road called Riverside in Totnes, a five-minute walk from Totnes train station on the main line from Penzance to London. Check out our lusciously green location on Google Maps.

You can find connecting train services at nationalrail.co.uk. Journey time from London is roughly 3 hours, tracing Brunel’s stunning line across the country, snaking around the rich red cliffs at Teignmouth and great for bird watching on the Exmouth estuary. Watch out for pink sheep!

We want to discourage visitors travelling by car as Totnes is very easy to get to by train and we know you can experience the best of Devon by foot, by bicycle and by public transport from your base at Little Riverside.

Of course Riverside is accessible by road and there is safe parking just a few yards from the front door.

From the A38 Exeter-Plymouth road take the turnoff to Totnes. Directions to the town are clearly marked. As you approach the town look out for the large sign on the left welcoming you to Totnes. The road on the left immediately following the sign is called Swallowfields. Take this turning and after about 200m you enter Riverside, a newish estate. Take the second turning on your right and you will see the sign for Little Riverside at the bottom of the slope.

If you arrive from the west, cross to the opposite platform over the footbridge, and if you’re arriving from London, you’re already on the correct side.
Turn left immediately out of the station gate and walk to the end of the car park, following signs for the steam railway.
When you reach the river, turn left and follow the tarmac path along the river, under the rail bridge. After five minutes, cross the wooden pedestrian bridge and turn right.
Follow the path for 200 yards and you’ll see our wooden door on your left, set into the wall.
